The Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force and Arlington's Gang Task Force held a soccer tournament this month. Teams from Fairfax, Prince William County, Alexandria and Arlington competed in a smart alternative to gang violence.

Arlington teens are drinking less alcohol, watching less TV and getting more exercise. But we're also reporting more experiences with depression and bullying, according to data from the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth and Families.

But while playing the game with admissions offices, most students vying for college spaces forget the people who will actually affect their academic experience the most: their college professors. And although professors don’t usually influence the admissions process, they also have expectations for incoming students.
