Sept. 4-10 is National Suicide Prevention Week

free event at NRECA Wednesday, September 7, 2011 7-9 pm

I just heard this story this weekend, even though it happened more than 2 years ago. This literally breaks my heart. On April 6, 2009, 11-year-old Carl Walker-Hoover's family says he hanged himself after enduring bullying at school, and being called "gay". Just 10 days later, 11-year-old Jaheem Herrera, another victim of bullying, took his own life, according to his family. Read more: http://www.oprah.com/relationships/School-Bullying/1#ixzz1XBIjldF5
And a piece by Carl's mom, who is now an activist against school bullying:

There is a free event tomorrow:
Participate in CrisisLink's National Suicide Prevention Week Event:

"Bullying Across the Ages: A Focus on Youth and the Elderly"

Two of the most vulnerable groups to suicide are our youth and the elderly. Come join the discussion on two very important topics led by experts dealing with real issues these groups face: elder financial mismanagement/abuse and bullying among our youth.  You'll leave armed with valuable information to help identify and help those in need, while showing your support of National Suicide Prevention Week.
