For a young audience, the nonprofit theater group hosts what has become an annual tradition, the CHILDREN’S THEATER FESTIVAL. Six hours of theater, dance and children’s activities take place on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This year’s festival includes presentations at noon and 4 p.m. of the Spanish-language play I Call Her Rusita Rojas (Yo La Llamo Rusita Rojas), Cristina Ferrari’s adaptation of Charles Perrault’s Red Riding Hood story. The play is directed by Jacqueline Briceño and features actors Marcela Ferlito, Anabel Marcano and Mario Alvarez. The festival also includes folkloric dance by area performers and a presentation by “Las Lunitas,” the children’s troupe made up of students in Teatro de la Luna’s Experience Theater bilingual workshops. It’s a day of theater and much more at the Rosslyn Spectrum in Arlington, Virginia, near the Rosslyn metro station (Orange and Blue lines). There is also free parking. Refreshments will be available for sale.
